About Jay
From Mortgage Adviser to Educator
Jay Lee spent over a decade working as a mortgage adviser in the UK, helping clients navigate everything from first-time purchases to complex remortgages. That hands-on experience — sitting across the table from real borrowers, working within FCA regulatory frameworks, and understanding lender criteria inside out — is what shapes every lesson in the uAcademy CeMAP course today.
In 2020, when the Covid pandemic hit, Jay lost his position as a mortgage adviser. Rather than wait for the market to recover, he spotted a gap: affordable, high-quality CeMAP training simply didn't exist online. Classroom courses charged £800 or more. Self-study materials were dry and outdated. So Jay built uAcademy from scratch, channelling a decade of real-world mortgage knowledge into interactive lessons designed to get students exam-ready — not just textbook-familiar.
That decision caught attention. Jay's expertise has been sought by major publications including the BBC and The Sun, and he has contributed professional insights on mortgages and property to Metro, NatWest, and Property Investor Today. His writing on mortgage careers and financial services appears on Indeed and UCAS, where he advises graduates considering a move into the industry.
Jay has also been featured in property and business media including Landlord Today, Letting Agent Today, MoneyMagpie, and Maddyness. His career guidance on entering the mortgage profession has appeared on Interview Coach, Coursemethod, and UpJourney.
Since launch, uAcademy has helped more than 5,000 students gain professional qualifications — with a 92% pass rate. Jay personally writes and updates every lesson, ensuring the course material tracks the latest LIBF exam specification. He also oversees the platform's mock exam papers, CeRER equity release training, and tutor support.
